Expanding Your Products & ServicesEvery business is always looking to build a brand, a reputation, a client base, but most times it's not possible. Building a business can be difficult when you have little or no money for marketing or customer acquisition. There is a way for businesses to build or expand their product or service customer base. This method has been around for a long time and many businesses rely on it and depend on it for their entire income. What is it? Private label otherwise known as rebranding.
Manufacturing companies have been doing this for decades. Think about an automobile company like Ford, Chevy, GM and the like. They buy OEM parts to build their vehicles and what the public sees is a Ford. We don't see "Ford Focus built with parts from these manufacturers..." The service industry has been catching on to this idea and businesses are making more sales and increasing their income. For a business like mine, a web design company, offering private label service has been increasing my customer base and therefore helping my business thrive. I don't depend on private label work, but it does help. Think about your business and what your product or service can be used for. In my case, a web design company; I can take on clients on a regular basis and put my company name on the website. But, I can also offer my service to other companies that provide other services. Case in point, a wedding planner may offer a website to a couple as part of a package and the wedding planner would have their company name on the website instead of mine. I performed the work as a private label, but the wedding planner sold the website as their own. This is great because the wedding planner can always come back with more people that are getting married that want a website. Here's another example; a musician or music DJ can record music for other businesses to sell. Let's say a music DJ compiles a CD of soothing music. The CD can be given or sold, for a small price, to a nursery, a massage therapist, even a restaurant. The possibilities are endless; it's just a matter of getting creative with your business product or services that will enable you to expand your business. |
